Some places in this world are much more dangerous to visit or to live, especially as an foreigner or if you visually stand out. We picked these cities for our list due to their extremely high crime rates, percentage of violent crimes and unreported crimes.

Cape Town, South Africa

Cape Town, South Africa, unfortunately suffers from high crime rates, partially due to separation of wealth and dangerous sections of the city. Though being a big player in regards to tourism, people who travel there should research safety measures to make sure your trip is sage and peaceful.

Cape Town is known to be one of the most beautiful cities of South Africa, but is also the least safe place to be in the country. As it is a big city, certain sections of it are safe, but others have high rates of crime, these include kidnapping, murder and robbery. Along with staggering rates of rape and carjacking, gangs and drug warfare are also a reality for those that live and visit the city.

Karachi, Pakistan

Karachi, Pakistan, is one of the biggest cities and metropolitan areas in the world. It is also one of the most dangerous international cities. With long-standing political, ethnic and religious tensions in major sections of the population. Along with ongoing problems with human trafficking and widespread property damage due to protests and riots.

Karachi is the largest city of Pakistan, and also regarded as the most dangerous place in the country. All kinds of crimes take place in this very corrupt place. Grozny, Chechnya, has undergone warfare since the mid-1990s, when the Russian army demolished much of the city into rubble and not much else remained. About half of the population has fled, but those who have remained mostly live in shells of their old lives and homes.

Dangers from the local gangs and mafia, along with remaining mines make this easily somewhere you wont find being advertised on the local travel agents.

Detroit, Michigan,is famous for its reputation as a dangerous metropolis. Consistently ranking as the most dangerous city of the United States, with consistent high violent and property crime rates every year.

Though some parts of this city are safe, others are in a state of abandonment and decay.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Rio de Janeiro is a huge urban area in Brazil, many dangerous slums located around the city are a result of sum of the biggest gaps in wealth currently in existence. People there must go around with caution.
